HER STORY
A floating tributeto Boathouse Row.
For over a century, Philadelphia’s Schuylkill River has been celebrated for its iconic Boathouse Row, a National Historic Landmark comprised of fifteen Victorian and Gothic Revival boathouses built in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. These structures — first outlined in lights in 1979 to resist their demolition — remain the glowing heartbeat of American rowing, and an instantly recognizable part of the vibrant city of Philadelphia.
Your tiny floating getaway takes its inspiration from the Burk-Bergman House on Boathouse Row, carrying a little of that architectural history across the city to Philadelphia’s other great river, the Delaware. Here, you’ll wake to the sunrise over the towering Ben Franklin Bridge, feel the gentle movement of the water beneath you, and find a quiet haven within the waterfront community of Pier 5 Marina, just steps from the heart of Old City.
Cosy and lantern-lit, The Rowhouse offers a wonderfully different perspective on one of America’s best cities. Spend your mornings watching the river come to life, your afternoons exploring the cobblestone streets, historic sites, galleries, independent shops and celebrated restaurants of Old City, and your evenings relaxing on the water beneath the illuminated bridge. On special nights, you might even find yourself watching fireworks burst above the water.
A small floating retreat with a distinctly Philadelphia soul, The Rowhouse intends to celebrate the city’s renewed waterfront spirit, while nodding with affection and gratitude to its very remarkable past.
